Do It Yourself Festive Wooden Spoons

I just love the wooden utensils

that are available now...

Perhaps it reminds me of my childhood...

eating those ice cream cups with the pull off tab 

and the wooden flat spoons...

I also think they are a lot more charming

than plastic cutlery and probably better for the environment too...

Silent Reading

I'm so excited for today

because we are going to be reading silently

in all periods...

It's celebrate literacy week...

So today we are having a read-a-thon...

That means that I get to read too...

I notice they tend to actually read (rather than getting ancy)

if I'm doing the same thing...
works for me...

So my book today is...

The kids will think it's boring...
But after finishing Mockingjay
(which is the last book in The Hunger Games series
and was seriously disturbing)
I want to read a self help book 
that is not school related...

Branding

Since I'm wanting to make a slight name change to Goosie Girl...
It has started my brain churning about wanting to improve upon
what I already have...
So, I've been doing quite a bit of research lately on branding...
showing your product, what it is, who you are
and setting it a part from others...

It can be rather overwhelming...

I like this idea over here and oh...that's neat too...

So many pretties to look at...

Here are a few that I like the overall concept...

Of course, love, love, love, Laura Winslow...

Adore her colors...happy...classy...stylish...
and we all know her photography is out of this world...

and then the next two are from Making Brands Happen...
I love EVERYTHING about them...their style, their process, reviews 
and so wish I could afford to use them...sigh...

Amber Houseley...
She is a new blog love for me...
a-m-a-z-i-n-g...
Go take a peek...you will be hooked...
I can totally identify with her story regarding her new branding...
I'd like to pick her brain...
wish she lived closer so I could attend her workshop she's giving...

It is a process that will take some time...
But will be worth it in the end...

Miscellaneous

I'm trying to work through some issues
before I go "live" in June...
It's time to roll up my sleeves and

When I started this little blog way back when...
I was designing cards...
so I took on the address of Goosie Girl Cards...
But now I want to drop the "Cards" part and add a "Sweet"
and I'm finding you can't just do that...
It's all good...just a bit of a pain...
So in the near future you may have to change this blog address...

to a new and improved one...even though I so love this one...
But I'll let you know...
I must keep in mind...

Valentine Cookies

I was inspired by all those cookie artists out there

to try some new techniques 

on a few of my Valentine yummies...

First up are these milk bottles...
which would actually be perfect for an array of parties...

complete with my new cookie signature...
a touch of sparkle...

sparkly letters & tops...

And since Valentine's Day is coming up
it would only be appropriate to have hearts...

in which I tested out the wet on wet design...

I love the way they turned out...

and then I sampled brush embroidery...

add them all together...
and you get pretty & delicious sweet treats...

I love the simple theme of this party...

Antiquing

Goosie Girl & I went antiquing this past Saturday...

She loves studying all the vintage eye candy...

Some of the items weren't exactly "that" vintage...

more like things I had when I was growing up...wink...wink...

These were some of my treasures...

A sweet sifter & flour shaker...

How fun it will be to use these for cookie preparations...

and then some simple bowls in which to mix icing...

 My husband informed me that he had this exact bowl

(the dinosaur one) when he was growing up...

Who said baking items needed to be new...
The old definitely has more charm...

Since I want to be a princess AND I adore sparkle...

it seemed fitting to make these regal pretties

 for a birthday...

So girly & feminine...

Working Hard

I can honestly say that I have really been working hard lately 

focusing, planning, learning & doing...

You know...about my goal...Goosie Girl full time...

What I haven't done, that needs to occur,

 is to get out there and market...

For some reason this makes me a bit nervous...

It puts me out of my comfort zone 

and I guess that I'm afraid people will say no...

Would anyone like to share what they've done?

Sock Monkey Cookies

Yay!  It's Friday!

I have been seriously burning the candle 

at both ends this week so I am ready for some downtime...

I do have a few cookie orders to work on too...
(which is awesome)
and it is so much more enjoyable to do
when you're fresh and not rushed...

This morning I think I might treat myself 
on the way to school...
